Sakhalin Region’s Governor Valery Limarenko asked Medvedev to consider cancelling central taxes for the islands to attract investors.
“The initiative to update taxes on the Kuril Islands is interesting. I would like to say that they need a special instrument to spur up businesses on the islands, as they are of special importance for our country as you know,” he said.
“I am not forecasting the results now, let’s consider all existing proposals to support business in the region – in the Sakhalin Region and on the Kuril Islands.”
